After articles about obvious and not so obvious fantasy champions league picks, we completed our scout squad. We put together all the information we have ahead of R16 and put it together. Our strategy was to built a team around obvious picks (De Bruyne, Ronaldo, Son, Haaland, Van Dijk, Lewandowski) – players that will be heavily owned because many of UCL fantasy players expect them to do well because of their amazing form. We add some under the radar picks around them and create balanced squad we think that will do very well in the upcoming matchday 7.
Wojciech Szczesny with great clean sheet potential in favorable fixture against Lyon complemented with cheap Napoli no. 1 Alex Meret is our goalkeeping duo. Of course, thanks to the ucl fantasy substitions, Alex Meret will get his chance as the first goalie, and if there is no clean sheet for him, he will be replaced by more secure Polish international.
Virgil Van Dijk is no brainer for us. Thanks to balls recovered and goal threat he is the first defender in our scout picks. Similar for Trent Alexander Arnold.
He is not so good in balls recoveries, but he compensates that with great attacking threat and set piece duties. And when we talk about attacking defender, we cannot forget Benjamin Pavard, another great player in our team.
However, there is someone, who scored just one goal less this season in domestic competition than all three previous defenders combined (in domestic competitions). 7 goals and 4 assists in Seria A for Atalanta wingback Robin Gosens, that’s why he earned his place among our scout picks.
Young Brazilian Renan Lodi represents great value with his 4.2m price tag and thanks to the Athletico Madrid defensive qualities he may get you a clean sheet.
Son Heung-Min and Kevin De Bruyne are obvious pick in our team. They are in great form and it would really bold to overlook them. Riyad Mahrez, Ilicic and Henderson are differential picks and they are in great form too.
We expect goals from this trio. Ronaldo, Lewandowski and Haaland will be well owned in next matchday and they are in our selection. There are just three forwards slots in our teams, so there is not much room for differentials.
We tried to pick good captaincy contender for every day in order to fully exploit the power of UCL Fantasy captaincy changes. So this is our captaincy strategy for this matchday. If our captain will not score more than 6 points we will change him in this order – Haaland > Son > Lewandowski > Ronaldo.
