FPL GW5: DCL and Antonio replacements

With the recent absences of forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin (injury) and Michail Antonio (red card), most FPL managers are looking for worthy replacements for gameweek 5 of Fantasy Premier League.

For this reason, we looked for their best replacements.

1. Patrick Bamford

Leeds has an amazing run of fixtures ahead in the following 7 gameweeks (6 x FDR2, 1 x FDR3). It is hard to overlook Bamford as the main candidate to replace these two popular FPL forwards. He has one goal and one assist on his tally this season so far which suggests that he could continue in his nice form from the last season.

2. Raul Jimenez

The Mexican striker is back this season after his unfortunate head injury. Although Wolves struggled to score in the first four gameweeks of the season, their underlying stats are very optimistic. In the GW5 Wolverhampton will face Brentford at Molineux Stadium.

It is a risky fixture as Brentford has been defensively very solid this season – only Man City conceded fewer xG than them. Nevertheless, there are many “green” fixtures ahead of Wolves. Jimenez’s talent is undeniable, he is a proven FPL asset (based on the previous season) and this match could finally be the beginning of his scoring streak.

3. Richarlison

The “Toffees” attack has been one of the most productive attacks in the entire league so far. Only Manchester City (11) and Manchester United (11) scored more goals than Everton (10) this season, and only City, Man United, and Liverpool accumulated higher xG in the first 4 matches of the new season.

The unfortunate injury of Dominic Calvert-Lewin may cause that Richarlison will receive a more important role as the only center-forward with an attractive value of 7.5M.

Differential pick: Allan Saint-Maximin

The Newcastle United striker started the season in great style – scoring one goal and assisting two. His underlying numbers are not perfect (0.5 xG, 1.24 xA, 6 shots, 9 KP), but he is only selected by 7.6% of FPL teams and has a relatively cheap value of 6.6m.

In gameweek 5, Newcastle will face Leeds United – the match of two very bad defenses. There could be a lot of goals in this match and Patrick Bamford is not the only one that could get on the scoresheet.
