Let’s explain the Limitless Wildcard chip in the Fantasy Champions League. It is one of the most powerful chips in fantasy football, as it has tremendous points upside. In this article, we will explore it in greater detail.
This article is a part of a series: How to play Champions League Fantasy
When is the best time to use the Limitless Wildcard Chip in 2025/26?
Usually, the best time to use a limitless Wildcard is in the League phase stage, so in MD2 – MD8. In the elimination rounds our budget increases by 5 million – to 105 million (+budget increase caused by price changes).
So, we all have a higher budget in the knockout stage which makes using the limitless wildcard chip there less effective. And there are also fewer players to pick from in the Knockout stage.
Also, fixtures in the League phase are better than in the latter stage of the Champions League. And with limitless, you always want to target fixtures where big teams play against “whipping boys” because those are matches with a lot of goals.
So, to sum things up: The best time to use the limitless chip is in the group stage, on a matchday, when many good teams play against weaker teams, so there are likely going to be high scores (such as 4:0, 5:0 etc.). And you want mainly players from teams that are likely to score a lot of goals in your limitless chip team.
Ideas for 2025/26 limitless chip
- do not use it in MD8 where all fixtures are played at the same time so you cannot use substitutions or captaincy changes (because the power of the limitless is that you can have a bench full of 8-11 million players, which really increases the odds of having good matchdays thanks to the substitutions).
- Do not use it in playoffs where top teams will be missing – so many heavy hitters will be missing.
- Do not use it in the elimination rounds, as our budget increases by 5 million after R16, so the impact of limitless will be smaller, and whipping boys (weaker teams) will be missing in elimination rounds
- Use it in the group stage during MD where many top teams will play against whipping boys. Matchday 2 and Matchday 7 seems to be full of good fixtures of top teams against weaker ones – but this is very team dependent
What is Limitless Wildcard and what does it do?
The limitless wildcard is a chip in UCL Fantasy that allows you to change your whole team for just one matchday and without budget restrictions.
It means that once you activate a limitless wildcard in Fantasy Champions League, you can build your squad with an unlimited budget exceeding the usual number of 100 m. You have unlimited transfers, and no budget restrictions, but it is for one matchday only. After that matchday, your squad reverts to your previous team.
How many limitless wildcards are there in UCL Fantasy?
There is just one Limitless Wildcard chip in UCL Fantasy, so you can use this chip just once.
When you can use Limitless Wildcard?
You can use the limitless wildcard chip on any matchday except Matchday 1 and Matchday 9 (Play offs 1st Leg) and Matchday 11 (R16 1st leg) as we have naturally unlimited transfers before these two matchdays.

If you have already made some transfers before the matchday and then activated limitless, all your transfers (and points deductions) will be canceled.

What is a good score on Limitless Wildcard?
There is really no clear answer on what is a good score on limitless. Every matchday of UCL Fantasy is different: some are high-scoring and some are low-scoring.
Usually, you should aim to get 100+ points on your Limitless.
But always check on how many points other Fantasy Champions League managers (who are not on limitless) get and what their approximate average is. If you beat their average by 15+ points, that is a good score.
