The Haaland plan for FPL Gameweek 22

fpl haaland replacements

Erling Haaland returned to Manchester City training and he should be available soon for Man. City. But he still was not fit enough to play in FA Cup against Tottenham on 26 January. That makes him a doubt for Gameweek 22 as well.

Haaland injury news

This is what Pep Guardiola said before the FA Cup fixture against Spurs:

It looks that Haaland might play some part in the GW22 fixture against Burnley, but that could be off the bench:

What to do if you have Haaland in your FPL team?

If you kept Haaland until now, we think you should keep him and start him. He seems to be very close to returning now, although it was looking like that before every gameweek so far.

What to do if you do not have Haaland in your FPL team? Should you buy Haaland before GW22?

As it stands, we are not going to buy Haaland in GW22. But that could change if there is new information before the deadline. We just do not think he will start the game against Burnley from the beginning (but that is only our guess).

Yes, he could play, as he is back in training (but it’s unclear whether he completed full training), but so far from what we know, we are in a similar position as we were before previous gameweeks.

But in the end, the decision on buying Haaland or not this week for GW22 is up to you. So if you think he will start, you can buy him.

If you are not buying Haaland this week, have a plan for how you bring him back potentially in GW23, so leave enough money in the bank (from selling Salah or Son), so you could upgrade some of your forwards (Alvarez, Solane, Archer..) to Haaland easily.

Our Haaland plan

As it stands, we are not buying Haaland this week. But we will leave enough money in the bank, so we can afford to buy Haaland in GW23.
