Chip Strategies for UCL Fantasy 2025/26

Some ideas on chip strategies for UCL Fantasy 2025/26. As we already stated in our previous articles, we think it is best to use both chips in the League phase.

To recap our chip ideas from previous articles

Why NOT to use a wildcard in the KO stage:

Using a wildcard in the knockout can be less effective, as all managers will have 3+5 free transfers before MD11 and the final to replace eliminated players. Basically, you can replace up to 8 players in your squad your free transfers and 15 with wildcard = the difference is only an additional 7 changes. While in the league phase stage, it is much higher as we have only 2 free transfers between matchdays.

Potential “strategical” matchdays for regular wildcard

  • MD8 when we will know all lineups before the deadline.
  • MD7 as it is played in January – after a big Christmas break,  so there could be injuries and new transfers so it could be difficult to deal with that with just 2  free transfers

Where NOT to use the limitless chip

  • do not use it in MD8 where all fixtures are played at the same time so you cannot use substitutions or captaincy changes (because the power of the limitless is that you can have a bench full of 8-11 million players, which really increases the odds of having good matchdays thanks to the substitutions).
  • Do not use it in playoffs where top teams will be missing – so many heavy hitters will be missing.
  • Do not use it in the elimination rounds, as our budget increases by 5 million after R16, so the impact of limitless will be smaller, and whipping boys (weaker teams) will be missing in elimination rounds

Potential matchdays for limitless

  • Use it in the group stage during MD where many top teams will play against whipping boys. Matchday 2 and Matchday 7 seems to be full of good fixtures of top teams against weaker ones.

Potential chip strategies for Fantasy Champions League

WC2, LL7 – the “bold” chip strategy

  • Really bold strategy where you would load up on Sporting, Benfica, Olympiacos, PSV players for MD1 (players you do not really want long term, but exloit their MD1 fixture), and then sell them all in MD2 for Real Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool players with good fixtures on regular wildcard.

LL2, WC8

  • MD1 team – balanced squad for MD1, MD3-7
  • MD2 limitless exploit high upside fixtures
  • MD8 regular wildcard, to exploit the knowledge of all lineups and having the cheapest bench possible for a matchday when all games are played at the same time

LL2/LL7, WC3/WC4/WC5

  • Saving regular wildcard to half of the league phase, where we should have more data about who the good “budget” players are, and who the best players at balls recovered are
